Meerkle is the main language used by the Council and those associated with it. It seems to be the primary language used throughout the universe.

The name of the language derives from the flower Meer, used by the Kaines from Hwom to find aether wells. It was then adopted by the Jethes and slowly turned into the language the most spoken all across the Cluster of the Source.

Grammar Rules[edit]

Meerkle is a language where the verb is not conjugated according to the subject, and no words are declined. There is a single, neutral gender for all words and pronouns. It had two numbers: singular and plural. The most common order for sentence building is Subject - Verb - Object. The adjective may come before or after the noun indistinctively.

In universe, although it's an organic language, it has acquired a lot of artificial simplifications.

The language is inspired mostly by Spanish, French, Japanese, Italian, German and English. The consonants tend to be soft. It's considered a shallow language, given that any word can be pronounced upon being read for the first time.

There are no accents in the romanification of the words, although some letters don't correspond one to one with the way they sound in english.

There are, like in Spanish, three endings for verbs - et, it and ot. Verbs are the only words finished in t. To specify a tense, prefixes are added to the verb.

If the verb is in present tense and the subject is a pronoun, the subject and verb may fuse.

"Ouchevit" - Ou (I) chevit (know).

For the negative form or a verb, the suffix "iye" may be fused to the verb.

"Ouchevityie" - I don't know.
